Jan Slomp Elected NFU President by Acclamation, Dec. 2

Ottawa, ON – Jan Slomp of Rimby, Alberta was elected President of the National Farmers Union (NFU) by acclamation, at its 44th Annual National Convention held in Ottawa, November 27 – 30, 2013.

  • Ann Slater of St. Marys, Ontario was acclaimed as NFU 1st Vice-President (Policy).
  • Coral Sproule of Perth, Ontario was acclaimed as NFU 2nd Vice-President (Operations).
  • Joan Brady of Dashwood, Ontario was acclaimed as NFU Women’s President.
  • Marcella Pedersen of Cut Knife, Saskatchewan was elected as NFU Women’s Vice-President.
  • Alex Fletcher of Victoria, BC was acclaimed as NFU Youth President.
  • Lisa Lundgard of Grimshaw, BC was elected NFU Youth Vice-President.

The National Farmers Union was founded in 1969. It is a non-partisan, democratic, direct-membership family farm organization. It is the only farm organization in Canada incorporated under a Special Act of Parliament.
