NFU Convention Media Release

November 17, 2025 Moncton, New Brunswick – Farmers from across Canada will convene in Moncton, starting Wednesday, November 19th, at the Crowne Plaza Moncton (1005 Main Street).

This is a historic meeting; it is the first time that the National Farmers Union annual Convention will be held in the province of New Brunswick.

This year’s Convention theme is Food. Sovereignty. Justice. Building Collective Strategies. Speakers, panelists and attendees will discuss how to intentionally counter embedded powers and work together toward the future farmers and Canadians want and need.

At the Convention, farmers and farm workers will debate resolutions and decide NFU policies and priorities, elect officials, share ideas, organize for effective change, and learn from speakers and panelists on topics that include farmland ownership, international trade, climate solutions, migrant workers’ experiences, seed sovereignty, and more.

The NFU Convention is hybrid: in-person and on Zoom Media who are interested in attending are invited to use this link to register.

Keynote speakers this year will be Charlie Angus and Brit Griffin. Charlie Angus is an author, journalist, broadcaster, musician, and retired NDP MP for Timmins-James Bay. He is currently leading the “Elbows Up/Resistance” to authoritarianism and attacks on Canada’s sovereignty. Brit is a former investigative journalist/editor, novelist, researcher for the Timiskaming First Nation, and environmental activist. Brit and Charlie’s 40 plus years of shared struggle for progressive causes will inspire conference attendees on how we might nurture and empower each other in the building of grassroots movements around food and farming. Tickets for this portion of the event will be available separately from the full convention.

The National Farmers Union in New Brunswick is one of two accredited general farm organizations in the

province. Our organization represents and fights for farms of all sizes and commodities. As a democratic, membership-driven organization, we promote policies brought forth by our members that resist corporate control of food. We work to create spaces for farmers to come together to learn and network.
