The National Farmers Union in New Brunswick Youth Development Coordinator will provide youth coordination and leadership in the agricultural sector in New Brunswick. In this role, they will oversee a youth engagement project that will strengthen the connections between youth and agriculture. The Coordinator will be an outgoing, self-motivated young professional with strong communication skills living in New Brunswick, who is keen to make New Brunswick more self-sufficient and assist youth in participating in the sector.

This is a flexible time (30 hours per week) contract position that ends August 28, 2026. Pay rate is $18.00/hour.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Youth Development Coordinator will be responsible for; project development; outreach to youth and members; and design of materials. Based on NFU-NB’s principles their aim will be to engage youth and build connections in farming communities. They will strengthen relationships for long-term action and on-going involvement in the NFU-NB; create building blocks to support future work; and perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and skills

The NFU-NB is looking for a highly organized, responsible person, aged 15 – 30, with a passion for people, storytelling and movement building. Experience of New Brunswick farming is a strong asset. Ability to learn technical information and convey it clearly to the public is an asset. Bilingualism is required. The Youth Development Coordinator is eager to take initiative in their tasks, but willing to check in and take feedback. The candidate will have a high degree of professionalism and an outgoing personality to build relationships. They will be highly capable at planning and will be eager to learn any skills they do not already have. They will have strong written and communication skills. They will work independently with guidance as needed. The candidate will take ownership for results. They must be committed to the NFU- NB’s climate change, agroecology and food sovereignty goals.
