NFU REGION 1 ANNUAL CONVENTION

NFU REGION 1 ANNUAL CONVENTION, Florenceville, NB

You and your family are invited to attend the 2014 Region 1 Annual Convention on Tuesday, August 12, at the Florenceville Legion, 219 Greenfield Road, Florenceville, NB.  Registration begins at 9:00 AM, with the meeting getting underway at 9:30 AM. The registration fee of $20 includes lunch and two snack breaks. Lunch will be served from 12 Noon until 1:00 PM and the meeting will adjourn at 4:00 PM.

 

Directions to Florenceville Legion:  Exit 153 from the Trans Canada Highway, Rte. 2, and turn towards Florenceville-Bristol on Rte. 110 East. Drive 2 kms and turn left on the Greenfield Road. Drive 1 km to the Royal Canadian Legion, Civic address: 219 Greenfield Road, Florenceville-Bristol, NB E7L 3C4.  Phone: (506) 392-5254.

 

Accommodation is available at the Florenceville Motor Inn (506-392-6053) or at various area bed and breakfasts and hotels. If you need directions or if child care is required, please contact NFU in NB secretary, Barb Somerville (506-246-5583) ahead of time.

 

Resolutions on current policy issues may be presented to this Convention by submitting them by August 5 to nfuinnb@gmail.com or by fax to 506-246-5582. (Resolutions must be typed in correct format with contact name and information, please.) Resolutions passed will be forwarded to the National Convention in November. Elections will be held for two National Board Members, a Youth Advisory Committee member, a District 2 Women’s Director, and an International Program Committee member.

 

We encourage all NFU members to attend this Regional Convention. The NFU is a grassroots organization, and your participation and input is extremely important in the discussions that provide direction for our region. The morning guest speaker will be Robert Gareau, Business Development Director for SEQ Marketing, part of the Québec Parmentier group that markets seed and table potatoes from 33 farms. Our after-lunch farmer panel, representing several commodities, will all reflect our theme:  Farmers’ Challenge to Unite Common Threads in Marketing.
